On the29th May, we had our 2025 Landowners and Contractors Association AGM. There was a good turnout, and we had the pleasure of hosting Bernie McGahan as our guest speaker. See below for some images from the night as well as the full Chairman’s Report from Brian.
Chairman’s Report
Another year has seen many and varied activities for the LCA,
Our dealings have largely been with Council related activities, good, bad and indifferent.
We have had some wins, we have seen positive outcomes.
We have witnessed some seemingly unworkable decisions also but have always upheld
what we see as workable solutions to peoples problems.
A number of workshops, forums and meetings have been hosted or arranged including AC
farm environmental expectations, Auckland Transport working groups, Fonterra Farm
compliance teams process and procedures, Healthy Waters teams focus and expectations.
Also with our deputation to the city offices seeking clarity and input on matters relating to
overland flow paths, wetland retirement, riparian planting , etc.
We have been represented at the Rural Advisory Panel “RAP” meetings in the city, the
Unsealed Road Improvement Planning “URIP” Forums and other local entities meetings,
eg: Drainage Boards .
As of late we are offering support to the Mahurangi Oyster farmers and staff in whatever
form we can, yet to be decided on
I’m ever grateful to those who make this organisation function so well, namely our
secretary Rick O’flaherty and treasurer Paul Jones, the committee who meet monthly have
been supportive and each offer their own slant on issues.
A detailed review of our constitution has taken place as is deemed necessary by the Society
of Incorporated Societies to come into effect 2026, I would especially thank Ray Hollis for
his input here
A special thanks to Terry and Shirley Blakemore along with the RSA for the use of the
building and their hospitality
RLB members Colin Smith, Tim Holdgate and Geoff Upston have also represented us and
our initiatives relayed.
We are keen to recruit more members and encourage any of you to become involved either
physically or financially, it’s not all boring and we do enjoy each others input
Regards,
Brian Mason Chairman
