The LCA had a very successful meeting with Northland MP Grant McCallum on Monday the 13th May 2024.
Grant spent an hour and a half with LCA pointing out and discussing the ambitions of the Coalition Government and particularly the issues which affect the rural sector. To name just a few topics, he covered environmental regulations, reform of the RMA, review of the Essential Freshwater Initiatives, dangerous dams proposal, and Local Authority performance.
Grant noted that the number of present day parliamentarians with a rural or farming background is again proportionate to the significant role the sector plays in our country’s economy and general wellbeing. So hopefully the farming sector will enjoy more support from the Coalition Government.
We hope to invite Grant back again to update us on the Government’s progress.
