The public meeting held on the 29 April 2024 at the Wellsford Memorial RSA was attended by 50 to 60 people. The meeting was organised jointly by LCA and Auckland Council.
In attendance for AC was James Hassall (GM Licensing and Regulatory Compliance) and Robert Laulala (Manager Environmental Monitoring). Councillor Greg Sayers chaired the meeting.
The meeting was constructive and positive feedback was received from both farmers in attendance and Council officers. The meeting gave individual farmers an opportunity to explain their frustrations with the inspection regime and gave AC an opportunity to clarify its processes.
The Council Officers acknowledged that there had been a lot of complaints about the inspection process and the charges levied.
A number of issues were identified and LCA will certainly be pursuing those with Council.
