October Chairman’s Report

See below for Chairman Brian Mason’s report from our LCA meeting on the 27th October 2023

There has been various activities this month across different concerns:

Ongoing unrest with AC charges relating to Dairy farm environmental monitoring. Fed Farmers letter which we were endorsing set out many questions, when answered by AC they were seemingly evasive, non committing, and draconian. This subject is now on the agenda for RAP’s November meeting.

Roading
Greg Sayers met with representatives of concerned parties recently basically putting Northern Rodney in a collective to make progress with AT, there is a meeting planned for February at a higher level. Colin and I attended from LCA.

Water
The LCA sub committee met with Michael Marris recently and are working on a “narrative” as to the best way to approach concerned and interested parties that will be both factual and expectant of some action . This letter will be circulated throughout Council and interested local MP’s . The attendees were Rick, Ray, Philip Olsen and myself.

Forestry forum
This was attended by about 25 people generally with an interest in small forest stands, woodlots ,etc. It was informative and valuable to any considering harvesting with both legal procedure outlined along with practical steps. LCA was represented by Gordon, Ray, Tim and myself.

Election Outcome
I have’nt spoken with Chris Penk yet but Grant McCallum now MP Northland is very keen and supportive of our cause and keen to work with us.

Regards,
Brian
