See below for Chairman Brian Mason’s report from our LCA meeting on the 28th September 2023
—
Another month with plenty happening again.
We co hosted along with Wellsford Plus the Meet the Candidates Night here at
the RSA, an excellent turnout with 7 candidates participating.
Some good questions were asked of them and some worthwhile networking
over supper. We are grateful to the RSA in their provision of the venue and
supper.
The next evening 3 of us attended the Wellsford Plus social event which was a
low key evening held at the Fire Station where volunteer groups were
recognised and each explained their function within the community
Several follow up conversations and messages have resulted since our previous
meetings with Auckland Transport all useful.
I was approached by Bill Foster of NAG to promote the proposed boundary
change proposal which greatly enhances the Rural representation for Rodney.
I subsequently wrote a letter in support to the MM’s which was published in
the last edition.
Likewise we got excellent coverage of our AT meeting within that edition
Tim, Colin and I attended the RAP meeting earlier in the month. A big issue is in
and around the NPS Nation Policy Statement which is dealing with Land use on
highly productive soils, the development of Solar Panel farms, etc.
Fed Farmers have since compiled a letter outlining the general feeling of the
RAP members, this is available should any of the committee wish to read.
I have been busy with AC Farm Effluent Inspection Invoices which are mostly
backdated 2 years, seemingly exorbitant and with an intimidating style of
payment deadline. On talking with Fed Farmers they have compiled a fairly
comprehensive letter to the senior officers to which several questions were
asked, a reply has now arrived which does’nt alleviated many concerns again I
can circulate.
Tomarata/ Te Arai water is an ongoing saga which we are meeting with
Michael Marris again to work a way forward as our response.
